All meetings and events are facilitated by volunteers, and any interested Northamptonite or Valley resident is invited to join us: attend a meeting or event, or join our email listserv and/ or Facebook group. Individuals can join the national Strong Towns organization with a donation of any amount, if interested, but membership in the national organization is not expected to be involved with Strong Towns Northampton, and we do not collect dues either. We are 100% local in terms of our volunteers, our interests, and our operations.

The calendar below includes both Strong Towns Northampton events and relevant City meetings. If you'd like to add these to your personal digital calendars, you can download them here.
Strong Towns Northampton events
Monthly meetings Strong Towns Northampton meets the first Wednesday of every month. At 6:30 we begin our schmoozing, and from 7- 8:30 is the meeting. Most meetings have a guest speaker or a presentation by one of our attendees, and meeting topics are shared via the listserv. Currently STN holds our monthly meetings at the Northampton Police Station’s Community Room.*

Mobility working group meetings Meets once a month over Zoom. Discussions are related to safe and inviting transportation and limiting car-dependency in Northampton.

Data and mapping gathering All mapping and data nerds invited! These meetings are not regular, but happen from time to time when STN has determined we need more data for internal or external use.

Leadership group A select group of involved members who guide discussions and projects, keeping the larger group on track.

Social events 3-4 times a year, we get together to just hang out and have fun. Warning: there are still a lot of nerdy conversations about urban design at these.

Housing discussion group We are still seeking someone who wants to lead a housing-specific group. Please let us know if you're interested!

City of Northampton events
Supporting local participation in decision-making is a core goal of Strong Towns Northampton. We have duplicated, here, relevant public meetings for the reference of our members and the public.

*To-date this space has been the best fit for our goals to meet in a space that is near downtown transit and bike paths, wheelchair-accessible, free, available in the 6-9pm timeframe, and easy to reserve. The Northampton Police Department does not participate in meetings or guide the meeting content in any way. We recognize that a police station is not a welcoming environment for all, and we welcome suggestions for alternate locations so that the meeting location is not a barrier to participation.
